We farm abalone, oysters, and mussels for both domestic and international consumer markets as well as oyster spat for the Tasmanian and South Australian oyster industry. We are poised for an exciting growth phase on several fronts through a focus on driving organic improvement by margin optimisation through sales execution, farming optimisation, lease and site development to increase capacity, and further acquisitions.  An opportunity now exists for an Operations Manager to join our team based in Adelaide, South Australia.

About the Role

The Operations Manager will be required to drive a quality and customer centric approach to production services for abalone post-harvest. It must deliver leadership across the business effectively engaging with the Sales and Marketing team to actively drive production and delivery of products and samples on time, in full and in specification.

Key to the role is the passion and mandate to drive growth, profitability and support the business into becoming a market led business with a FMCG capability as Australia’s leading shellfish aquaculture company. 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Taking full ownership of product quality (DIFOTIS) across all elements of the production value chain from on-farm processing, third party contract processors and central processing in all formats. 
  • To enable an effective business integration by implementing and managing an efficient value chain to ensure effective product delivery to market needs. 
  • To manage a S&OP process that integrates market demand planning with farm and processing capacity to maximise value
  • To control and manage inventory through all stages of the value chain
  • To enable new product development and commercialisation with technical and quality assurance input with a sense of urgency
  • To identify and optimise productivity opportunities through all stages of the production process to maximise return on assets
  • Provide management, strategic input and oversight to the operational centres and the business overall.
  • Ensure that the business systems are “fit for purpose” to support effective planning, execution and control across the value chain.

 

Skills, Experience & Attributes 

  • Significant experience within the Food Production industry, people management, coaching & delegating
  • Experience within the Aquaculture/Fishing industries is desirable
  • High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Qualification in Operations / Production Manager, Supply Chain Management or of similar
  • Excellent self and team organisational abilities
  • Understanding of pricing, sales and the end use of all product lines
  • Understanding of QA Management 
  • Understanding of MSOffice, tools & technologies used in operations
  • Experience working with and cross functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Forklift and HC License (or willing to obtain)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in managing activities and evaluating information and understanding of databases
  • Understand the key business drivers and identity areas of improvement
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
