Southseas Abalone rebrands as Yumbah Aquaculture following acquisition of WA investors’ interests by the Victorian-based investors. Initial agreement with Yaegl people to licence the word Yumbah as the company name. Adjoining land at Point Boston purchased to form Yumbah Port Lincoln.
Company headquarters, abalone feed mill and centralised processing facility open in Adelaide.
Yumbah Hatchery, joint venture with Cameron of Tasmania, to produce oyster spat at Port Lincoln.
Yumbah acquires oyster producer Cameron of Tasmania and Victoria’s Bay Sea Farms. Yumbah abalone farms achieve Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification.
Yumbah takes substantial interest in ASX-listed NSW-based Sydney Rock Oyster producer, processor and supplier, East33.
Yumbah acquires Port Lincoln mussel producer and processor, Eyre Peninsula Seafoods. Yumbah becomes Australia’s largest producer of mussels and abalone.
