Environment
Farming for future generations, with respect and care for the natural environments where we operate.
Respect for
nature
Yumbah’s shellfish aquaculture production systems – on and off-shore – closely mimic the natural systems where abalone, oysters and mussels breed and grow. Water quality is the first consideration for each species’ success, whether in estuaries (oysters), deeper water (oysters and mussels), or seawater pumped onshore for abalone and then returned to the sea.
Operations
Innovation is embedded in Yumbah’s operations, at every step of its vertically integrated business:
- Yumbah Aquafeeds making pelletised fish food; canning, freezing – even Suspended Animation Freezing®
- Fresh-packing of finished product and shipping from an advanced central processing facility in Adelaide
- Deploying renewable energy at scale across operations
- Using diversity of species and site to manage risk
Sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, better lives and healthy ocean ecosystems.
Recognising the social significance of the places we work, building long-term relationships with community and stakeholders.
Ensuring the highest standards of responsibility, accountability and transparency throughout our supply chain.
