About the Role

The role of Hatchery Technician reports to the Hatchery Manager and is based at our Hatchery in Arno Bay on the beautiful Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. The role is responsible for contributing across all key functional areas of the Hatchery including nursery, broodstock, RAS and water quality monitoring, fish health, and assisting with rotifers and artemia live feed work.

The ideal applicant will have experience in a similar role and environment with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a dedicated team. The role requires a practical, hands-on approach and a proactive and flexible attitude.

A competitive remuneration package including flexible shift arrangements and free, shared onsite accommodation will be in place for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective monitoring of RAS system.
  • Working with broodstock and monitoring fish health.
  • Participate in egg production and collection activities.
  • Participate in live feed production of rotifers and artemia.
  • Nursery procedures including grading and weaning.
  • Monitoring water quality to ensure optimum fish health & growing conditions.
  • Assist in the implementation of new practices and technologies.
  • Adhere strictly to Yumbah Clean Seas safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Similar Aquaculture/Hatchery experience desired.
  • Relevant qualifications and certificates an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Full work rights in Australia.
