About the Role

Based in Port Lincoln, this position will be responsible for driving a HC Heavy Vehicle within and around the Port Lincoln area and to and from Arno Bay.

Duties include loading and unloading feed, nets, fish stock and operational inventory as well as general maintenance of equipment and yard work. Additional responsibilities include assisting with net maintenance, rope work and other day-to-day shore-based activities which require a good level of physical fitness.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced and versatile HC Driver seeking a diverse role within in a committed team environment. Aquaculture or fishing industry experience will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing effective transport service with a focus on safety, operational needs, cost effectiveness and time management
  • Ensure compliance with Yumbah Clean Seas WHS practices, policies and procedures
  • Load hauls to and from Arno Bay including some overnight weekly stays
  • Operate forklifts to load/unload trucks, move inventory around depot/feed store and freezers, unload/load various boats
  • Liaise with skippers on boat requirements/etas
  • Operate CV Crane, daily inspection, fill in log, report faults
  • Perform maintenance checks and required documentation on Heavy Vehicles and  Plant
  • Document all receipt of goods
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Wash down, clean and maintain trucks, load restraint equipment, signage

Required Certifications and Skills

  • Current HC Truck Licence and proven experience
  • CV Crane and Dogging Licence
  • Forklift Licence
  • Thorough understanding of laws covering dangerous good transport, crane operation, dogging duties and forklift operation
  • Thorough understanding of Chain of Responsibility
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Thorough organisational skills and ability to prioritise and schedule work
  • Good problem-solving ability with an outcome focus
  • Ability to maintain safe work practices
  • Good level of physical fitness required for a variety of duties
  • Ability to work a rotating 5 days on/2 days off Roster including some weekend work
