About the Role

Yumbah Clean Seas has exciting openings in Port Lincoln for a safety-focused Skipper (Master <24m) and a capable Marine Engineer (MED II) within our Kingfish Farming Operations. A dual-qualification role utilising both tickets is also available.

Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager, you will deliver the highest standard for vessel safety and compliance, vessel handling and crew management of our Aquaculture vessels.  Successful candidates will have a proven background in a similar role, preferably within the Aquaculture or Fishing industries. This is a hands-on role suited to a capable marine professional who enjoys crew leadership, and supporting day-to-day operational requirements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and secure operations of Aquaculture work vessels.
  • Maintain a safety management system and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Regular safety checks on all equipment.
  • Maintain all vessel records to the appropriate standard.
  • Supervision and assistance with maintenance as necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments and introduce practical safety measures.
  • Adhere to WH&S policies, practices and procedures.
  • Deliver leadership and guidance to the crew enabling their professional growth.
  • Build positive relationships and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Qualifications/ Experience

  • Current AMSA Master <24m Near Coastal Certificate and/or MED II Near Coastal Certificate.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ commercial experience.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience working within maritime operations, vessel maintenance or marine engineering environments – preferable within Aquaculture.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices, environmental requirements and operational compliance.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Proven strong leadership skills and people management.
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Ability to work autonomously, determine priorities and resolve problems.
  • Flexibility and reliability.
  • Strong work ethic and practical mechanical ability.
  • Full unrestricted work rights within Australia.
