Yumbah Clean Seas, now proudly part of the Yumbah Group, is a global leader in the full cycle breeding, production and sale of Yellowtail Kingfish (YTK, Seriola lalandi). We’re investing heavily in our people, our systems and our infrastructure, and we’re now looking for an experienced Remote Feed Operator to join our dedicated team.
About the Role
Based in Port Lincoln and reporting to the Feed Manager, the Remote Feed Operator is responsible for the daily feeding of yellowtail kingfish from Clean Seas’ feed barges, using AKVA feed systems, and AKVA and Observe feed and camera programs. This role ensures the feed plan and procedures are followed accurately, fish are fed to hunger response without waste, and feed and fish performance is monitored and analysed.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role, combining high-level accuracy with strong technical and problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Remote operating of feed barge and equipment, using marine aquaculture systems, AKVA and Observe.
- Ensure accuracy in operations and documentation.
- Accurate reporting on feeding, feed deliveries, stock control, environmental conditions, mortality, feed sampling and analysis.
- Promptly report any failures or issues with feed equipment to the maintenance team.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Adhere strictly to Yumbah Clean Seas’ policies and procedures.
- Commitment to maintaining high safety and environmental standards.
- Support on-water teams as required.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience operating feed barges or similar marine aquaculture systems, ideally AKVA feed systems and Observe camera program.
- Knowledge/experience within the Australian aquaculture industry (preferably fin fish).
- Strong technical and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Sound analytical and reporting skills.
- Sound computer skills – Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong eye for detail.
- Good level of physical fitness.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Unrestricted Australian work rights.
