Job Title: Production & Processing Supervisor

Location: Boomer Bay, TAS

Date: 2024-08-23

Intro

With our exciting growth trajectory, we are seeking an experienced Supervisor to oversee our site, based in Southeast Tasmania.

Job Description

Cameron of Tasmania is part of the Yumbah Aquaculture Group.  Yumbah Aquaculture is quickly becoming Australia’s leading shellfish aquaculture company.  The business operates nationally in the pristine waters of Australia including Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia. We farm abalone, oysters and mussels for both domestic and international consumer markets as well as oyster spat for the Tasmanian and South Australian oyster industry. We are poised for an exciting growth phase through a focus on driving organic improvement through sales execution, farming optimisation, lease and site development to increase capacity and further acquisitions.

Yumbah is supportive of its people and believes in the future of the Aquaculture Industry as a key supplier of protein. The business operates with the core values of integrity, daring and teamwork to underpin our decision making.

About this role:

This is an exciting new role, based at our Boomer Bay site, just 25 minutes from Sorell and 45 minutes from Hobart.  It offers the successful applicant the opportunity to shape the role to deliver outcomes.  It is based on land and is not a sea based role.  The successful applicant will manage small teams to ensure our grading, harvest and market targets are met successfully and in accordance with our policies and procedures.  It reports directly to the Farm Manager.

Ideally, you will have experience in process work – not necessarily in aquaculture, but perhaps in fruit, poultry or other industries.  The successful applicant will have managed small crews in the past and be experienced in working to a plan and target to meet outcomes.  You will be ambitious and keen to work in a high performing team.

A forklift ticket will be highly regarded, but not essential.

An operational knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles is highly regarded

Experience in leadership or small team management required (this can include in community service and/or sporting teams, think broader than just your employment).

Why work with us:

– The chance to immerse yourself in nature in some of Tasmania’s most pristine areas.

– Work with a diverse and interesting range of people, who share a common goal of producing world class shellfish.

– The opportunity to work in a fully integrated Aquaculture company, where we value each of our team and their contribution.

– A friendly and supportive environment – we work together to achieve our goals and enjoy a culture that values positivity.

– A dedicated literacy and numeracy support service.

– An opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

– Excellent opportunity for career progression through our unique “peer to leader” mentoring program and personal development plans.

– We are a fast-growing company that offers opportunity for advancement as we grow.
